Always Becoming
Oil painting on canvas 28 x 24in (71.1 x 61 x 2cm)
I aimed to create an evocative scene that captures a windswept beach with a shallow sheen of water that reflects soft, muted colours. A low-lying headland is visible in the distance, shrouded in a gentle mist, while an overcast sky with textured clouds adds depth and atmosphere to the composition. The artwork conveys a sense of wildness, peacefulness, and natural beauty.
For me, beaches and coastlines symbolise the boundary between consciousness and the unconscious. Tides, breaking waves and ever changing weather emphasize the dynamic nature of this transitional space, underscoring the idea of perpetual change and evolution, hence the title.
